Design Community Open Call 2024 

Singapore Design Week (SDW) will be held from 26 September – 6 October 2024. 

One of Asia’s premier design festivals and the flagship event in Singapore’s design calendar, SDW celebrates Singapore’s distinctive brand of creativity, exploring design through three defining festival pillars: Design Futures, Design Marketplace and Design Impact. Organised by the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), SDW is a celebration of creativity and innovation, championing thought leadership and showcasing the best of design from Singapore and beyond in our UNESCO Creative City of Design.

Festival Theme: People of Design

‘People of Design’ honours the everyday visionaries among us who are making meaningful contributions to society through design. They come from all walks of life, but share a collective aspiration to make things better. This year, we invite everyone to join us in uncovering their own design potential to bring new and better outcomes to light – ultimately creating a more liveable and loveable Singapore.

Design Community

DesignSingapore Council would like to invite designers, design firms and design-led businesses and organisations to submit proposals for Design Community (DC) programmes as part of SDW 2024. 

DC programmes can come in various forms and scales, including but not limited to:  

  • Exhibitions and installations
  • Talks
  • Hackathons
  • Networking sessions
  • Workshops
  • Open houses
  • Studio visits
  • Tours
  • Graduation shows

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is there any funding available for DC programmes?
As DC is a platform for ground-up design-related programmes owned by various stakeholders from the design ecosystem, funding will not be provided by Dsg. However, successful applicants will receive marketing and publicity support under the SDW umbrella, at the discretion of Dsg.

2. Are DC programmes allowed to seek sponsorships from other companies and organisations?
Yes, DC programmes may secure for your own sponsors and venue partners.

3. Are there venues provided for DC programmes?
Partners are advised to soft-book or secure their own suitable venues in advance.
The National Design Centre has limited spaces for talks and workshops, and programmes will be allocated by the SDW team. The SDW team will also link up suitable partners with other venues if available.

4. What is the submission deadline and when will the results be announced?
The Open Call closes on Wednesday, 20 March, 5pm (SGT). All applicants will be informed of the outcome via email by 26 April.
