ipse ipsa ipsum reflects a tapestry of individuals, artisans, and designers who collaborate across various disciplines to create individualized pieces that transform ordinary living spaces into extraordinary places.

Project SURYA is a partnership with LASALLE College of the Arts’ young and upcoming designers, supporting them in their vision to bring fine-quality, individually handcrafted pieces to life. Following a long-standing tradition, founder Saurabh Mangla is proud to share a platform where emerging talents can unfold their true potential.

Project SURYA aims to develop innovative lighting concepts that synthesize the power of technology with the richness of culture to create sensory experiences within common spaces. Each designer crafted their work with various interpretations and inspirations from the theme of Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. They further elevated their vision with attention to sustainability — using natural materials and solar energy to power their creations. From design to reality, ipse ipsa ipsum effectively translated each student’s powerful narrative into a tangible story of style and sustainability.

The programme features a talk by Hariz and Kay Li, young designers at LaSalle on Sep 26, 12.30pm -1.30pm, on their experience of collaborating with ipse ipsa ipsum and creating the unique pieces of Project SURYA. They will share how to transform design to reality and effectively translate each artist’s powerful narrative into a tangible story of style, sustainability, and sense of identity.

The works were showcased at the Fuori Salone del Mobile in Milan last April 2023, with the student designers present to share about their work to hundreds of exhibition visitors. With inspiration and encouragement from the community around them, young artists can be confident in setting themselves up for success.
