Food Waste and Bioleather Workshop

ABOUT

Join a leathercraft workshop at Crafune to craft a bioleather cardholder for a loved one or yourself. You will use plant-based material developed from food waste by the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) at the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR).

Crafune will be introducing and explaining how bioleather is created, as well as speaking about the various types of leather available in the market.

The bioleather cardholders are ideal for storing daily cards, business cards, and even small dollar notes. They can be personalised by hot-stamping initials, names, words, dates, or even phrases.

All tools and materials will be provided. At the end of the two-hour workshop, participants will be able to bring home their own creations.

You will learn:

  • About the process of creating bioleather, and how bioleather compares to other types of leather available in the market;
  • Types of basic leather-crafting tools;
  • Scoring, cutting, and glueing of bioleather; and
  • Saddle stitching.
