Ethical Design: Principles in Practice
Design has a profound impact on humanity – it frames and influences behaviours, relationships, spaces, cultural and social norms. It has dramatically improved lives – improving productivity, increasing access to knowledge, reducing injuries… the list goes on. But it has a darker side. Design can be manipulative, dangerous and downright destructive.
Each day, designers and the design industry at large tread a delicate line, balancing the value tensions between fulfilling needs of the business and that of the users who will ultimately use the product. But there is a need to look beyond the direct stakeholders, to consider the ethical implications of the product, service, environment or organisation we create in context of the broader ecosystem we operate in.
Join PSYKHE at a discourse on the importance of Ethical Design and the key principles that could guide intentional, responsible design that prioritises the well-being of people, the planet and the society in which it operates. Ethical Design: Principles in Practice will take a pragmatic approach to design responsibly and present a framework for organisations as they aspire to innovate, grow and succeed sustainably.
Founder, Managing Director
Hema has spent the past 16 years focused on the intersection of consumer behaviour, technology and business. She specialises in driving digital transformation through Human Centred Design principles, creative collaboration and ethnographic research methods. Born from the desire to build a strategic design agency that blends the creative agility of a start-up with the rigour of a consulting practice, we believe that a design organisation can do well, and do good.
PSYKHE is on a mission to help ambitious, forward-looking organisations in Asia innovate and unlock sustainable growth through human-centric design.
