ABOUT
What if all the materials we ever needed were already in circulation?
What if we mined cities and products instead of the Earth?
What if there really was no such thing as waste?
Arup Foresight’s Future of Making programme explores how a radical rethink of the culture of making is enabling a more regenerative future. Through the vision of an ‘Industry N.0’ –: ‘nature.zero’, inspired by nature and aiming for zero impact – the programme applies a system-wide lens to changes in making processes, spaces, typologies and designs at the urban scale.
The exhibition presents a glimpse into that future. It showcases the bespoke toolkit of a forensic scavenger: a person making a living by sourcing materials, repurposing products, researching new applications. The exhibition’s aim is to inspire the next phase of industrial evolution, one that leaves behind linear growth in favour of circular thriving powered by a re-evaluation of materials.
