ABOUT
OuterEdit is proud to introduce their very own Pocket-sized Design Festival! Just like a handy companion – it’s intentionally designed as a compact, and easily accessible experience, always ready to spark inspiration whenever you need it. Discover a diverse line-up of events and activities, ranging from programmes specifically curated for the Singapore Design Week to opportunities for flexible exploration at your own pace.
At its core, this festival is about embracing the meaningful value of creativity and design within everyday experiences – be it exploring fresh, new ways of seeing and thinking, or bringing people together to share stories and perspectives so we may inspire better outcomes and a better way of life.
These values are deeply embedded in OuterEdit’s ethos of Making Meaningful Matter, guiding their efforts and journey in fostering creative collaboration and cultivating positive change together as a society.
About the Publication
At its heart, design festivals are all about people – strangers united by their love for creativity and design, coming together to celebrate not just the outcomes but the stories, struggles, and triumphs behind the work.
The Pocket-Sized Design Festival is OuterEdit’s ode to that festival spirit packaged in one handy-dandy print companion. Their pilot issue, “Creativity is Essential,” demonstrates how creativity powers innovation, technology, and design but even more so in how it serves as a force for good; bringing people together, inspiring a sense of national identity and pride, and shaping our collective culture.
Spanning a hearty 160 pages, this ground-up, community-led book features the voices of 46 different contributors from various disciplines and industries, all united by their fearlessness, passion, and zeal for creativity and community. Read firsthand the documented stories behind the early beginnings, lessons, and reflections from the likes of creative minds such as Charlotte Cain from Boutique Fairs, Steve Lawler from Eyeyah!, Colin Chee from Never Too Small, Dean Chew from Offtrack, Renée Ting from Singapore Art Book Fair, Ng Kai Yuan from Our Grandfather Story, and many more!
The publication is now available for pre-order at http://outershop.outeredit.com/ with a special pocket-sized discount till the end of Singapore Design Week!
About the Launch Event
In the spirit of supporting and championing ground-up collectives and initiatives, OuterEdit is celebrating the launch of the Pocket-Sized Design Festival in conjunction with Camp Pasoh – organised by fellow creatives and friends from BunkerBunker, Wild Pearl Studio, and Lopelab.
As part of the Camp Pasoh programme, OuterEdit will be hosting a Design Salon, offering an inside look at how The Pocket-Sized Festival publication came together, from the inspiration and conversations that guided their journey, the thought process behind the curation, the excerpts that resonated with them to perhaps even sharings from some of the contributors themselves!
