ABOUT
This Singapore Design Week, embark on specially curated tours by Indie Singapore Tours. Three unique walking and bus journeys will guide you through the festival’s highlights, exploring the future of design, food, and community across both weekends.
1. Future of Design (Walking Tour)
Singapore is often described as a “nation by design.” On this intimate walking tour through the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct — the city’s creative heart — you’ll see how design continues to shape who we are and where we’re going. Encounter playful exhibitions, bold experiments, and thoughtful reflections on identity and sustainability, before ending with a snack from a local bakery.
Highlights
- National Design Centre – Explore the Unnatural History Museum of Singapore, a playful look at identity and creative resilience.
- NAFA Fashion Gallery – Encounter the quirky The Sausage of the Future: Singapore Edition, sparking conversations on food security and sustainability.
- National Museum of Singapore – Conclude at Future Impact 3: Design Nation, connecting identity and innovation in Singapore’s design journey.
- Ending Bites – A deliciously curated snack from a local bakery
2. Future of Food (Bus Tour)
What will Singapore’s food future look like? This bus tour uses our nation’s favourite obsession — food — as a lens to explore sustainability, creativity, and innovation. From speculative concepts to real-world breakthroughs, discover how design is re-shaping what we eat, why we eat it, and what we might be eating next.
Highlights
- National Design Centre – Discover food as a designed product, with alternative food concepts to spark your imagination.
- Singapore Science Park – Visit the REINVENTION Pavilion — a hub where science, sustainability, and design meet.
- NAFA Fashion Gallery – Explore The Sausage of the Future: Singapore Edition, tackling food waste, biodiversity, and the psychology of eating.
- Ending Bites – Enjoy a light local snack (tailored to each weekend).
3. Future of Community (Bus Tour)
How does a nation design for its people? Beyond skyscrapers and infrastructure, this journey looks at the human side of design — where empathy, care, and connection are at the centre. This uplifting bus tour shows how Singapore is working towards being not just a smart nation, but a caring one.
Highlights
- National Design Centre – An introduction to human-centred design and its role in creating dignity and connection.
- Millenia Walk – Visit the Design for Care Pavilion, exploring how design shapes spaces of empathy and well-being.
- *SCAPE – Experience youth-driven urban design and community activations, with food trucks to end on a lively, multi-sensory note.
