Pop-Up Design School: Critical of/for What?

ABOUT

Pop Up Design School: Critical of/for What? invites design students to radically rethink and creatively “hack” the teaching of theory in design. It challenges the traditional separation of theory and practice in design education, encouraging students to explore and integrate them into their creative work. Through collaborative workshops and discussions, participants will delve into the evolving role of theory as well as critical thinking and making within design. The event will culminate in a collection of student-driven lesson ideas and provocations for the future of design education, centering student voices in shaping the future of design education and practice.

Justin Zhuang, Vanessa Ban and Candice Ng are design educators who operate at different capacities within the field of design. They have recently been awarded the Singapore Art Museum Design Research Fellowship in support of their research on what it means to teach, learn and practice criticality in design within Singapore.
