ABOUT
In a time of global flux, Nation by Design explores how design reinvents Singapore’s national identity: shaping, questioning, and reimagining what it means to belong. Set at the Singapore Science Park, this 9-day activation brings together exhibition, panel, and workshop to spark dialogue between history, lived experience, and speculative futures.
Exhibition · Visualising Identity Across Time and Perspective
Juxtaposing state campaigns and branding artefacts with fresh works by RMIT-SIM students, the exhibition traces how symbols, typography, and colour codes both construct and reframe national narratives.
Panel · Official Narratives, Lived Realities
Moderated by Dr Regine Abos, Alan Fong, Dr Nicola St John, Mark de Winne, and Kristen Mah debate how design communicates belonging (or exclusion) and shapes Singapore’s cultural identity.
Workshop · Designing Nationhood
A hands-on session inviting participants to remix national symbols and codes, sparking new ways of imagining identity and community.
