Join The Afternaut for an interactive adventure through the EDL gallery to discover the possibilities and multifaceted personas that laminate finishes can bring.

At the gallery’s entrance lobby, guests are greeted by a 3D QR code installation art piece by Afternaut that is lined with discontinued ABS edging, inspired by the colours of the local kueh lapis sagu. The QR code serves as a gateway into the digital portal of the gallery.

The gallery unfolds with the first chapter of its story featuring a giant lampshade made of strip-length offcuts, showcasing different compact top edge profiles that are common to countertop productions.

As visitors explore the space, they experience the materials in varying states, scale, and proximity in the chapters that follow. This brings about this deep sense of wonder and adventure into something out of this world, and provides inspiration on how pre-fabricated materials and their production offcuts can be integrated into exciting outcomes. One of the key spaces has more than a thousand interlocking modules fashioned from out-of-production laminates adorning its ceiling.

Participants can expect to leave this session inspired by how laminates and their complements can push the boundaries of contemporary design. It will also kick start conversations about how laminates can be creatively used and repurposed with a sustainable angle in mind. The tour will conclude with a short activity and souvenir to bring home.
