About Good Design Research pop-up exhibition: A Day in the Life

From the things we use, places we live in and work at to the way we communicate and travel, all elements of the human environment are designed. “A Day in the Life” is a journey of exploration through the intricacies of design research revealing its presence and relevance in our everyday lives.  

Showcasing the work of 23 designers and design enterprises supported by the Good Design Research (GDR) initiative, “A Day in the Life” takes visitors through three pivotal moments in the day: morning, representing a search for purpose that keeps us going, afternoon, signifying the practice or processes we engage in through the day, and night, a time to play with our creativity and curiosity. 

Unveiling a world of possibilities, “A Day in the Life” is both a display of what good design can achieve and a discussion on why it is necessary.

Good Design Research 

Design is everywhere. It shapes your neighbourhood and home. It influences the choices you make. It helps solve problems. The Good Design Research (GDR) initiative recognises the important role design can play and supports innovation through practice-based applied design research to address complex issues in cities and societies today. 

Launched by DesignSingapore Council in March 2020, GDR empowers local designers and enterprises to drive change in the areas such as environmental sustainability, communities & culture, and people & organisations. Through projects supported and funded by GDR, local designers have created eco-friendly alternatives to plastic takeaway containers, repurposed local felled trees, and designed ways to foster better relationships with our work and our communities.
