ABOUT
With 50,000 community cats wandering around Singapore, they have become as much quintessential features of the heartlands as symbols of the sometimes uncomfortable relationships that Singaporeans have with different animals in their urban environment – Singaporeans are caring, but may not be wont to sharing their spaces.
This installation confronts this reality and is targeted at increasing awareness and empathy for community cats and their carers, while provoking reflections on how the socio-emotional equilibrium between humans and community cats can be sustained or even improved.
Empirical yet emotional stories and visuals of community cats and their carers will be featured, and visitors will also be invited to contribute by capturing and uploading their interactions with their community cats on social media. Visitors can also consider purchasing and designing one of CLIZ’s cat-shaped bottles, then use or donate it for sale to raise funds to support the friendly felines in their communities.
