ABOUT

Find Your Folks @ Jalan Besar and discover a neighbourhood shaped by hyperlocal makers and their bold ideas. From veteran hardware stores to independent cafes and restaurants, Jalan Besar is lined with stories of both place and people. From 11 to 21 September, creative agency LOPELAB and events collective Ice Cream Sundays invite the public to connect with and rediscover the street through a series of creative public furniture. Designed in collaboration with local businesses, each piece tells their story — complete with a “receipt” of materials sourced right from Jalan Besar’s own hardware shops and open-source plans so you can make your own.

In true Urban Ventures style, Find Your Folks @ Jalan Besar will conclude with a 2-day street festival on Hamilton Road, featuring a diverse line-up of programmes and activities based on the event’s 6 core pillars: urban design, music, fashion, visual art, food, and urban sports. From the return of the BREW block party after a 6-year hiatus, to skate jams accompanied by a solar powered sound system, thrift markets, F&B pop-ups with local heroes, community installations and workshops, and so much more, the event will have a little something for everyone. The street festival will take place from 3 to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday, 20th and 21st September.

BREW by Darker Than Wax

Homegrown music label Darker than Wax brings their iconic BREW block party back to the streets of Jalan Besar this Design Week. Featuring a stellar DJ lineup; Dean Chew, Dexter Colt, Daryl Knows, Halia, Kaye and Ray Kong. Come down and boogie with BREW, 20 Sep, 3 to 10pm.

Makers’ Trail

Take a self-guided walk through Jalan Besar and encounter street-side furniture installations co-designed by local businesses and makers. Each piece is crafted with hyperlocal materials, plus a QR code to download the blueprint and create your own. Along the way, you’ll discover the neighbourhood’s independent cafes, family-run shops, and other hidden gems.

“THE URBAN PICNIC” Skate Jam

Millennial Events presents “THE URBAN PICNIC”, transforming Hamilton Road into a street skating spot for Singapore Design Week 2025. This weekend skate jam merges skateboarding culture with urban design through custom-built street obstacles, themed installations, and spot bounty competitions. Photo and video creatives will also compete to capture the best lines and tricks!
