ABOUT
Open Design Dialogue (ODD) is the concept guiding Orchard Design District – a belief that meaningful design begins with open conversations.
Exploring the theme ‘Nation by Design’, everyone, especially youth, is invited to take part in shaping and examining the narratives of our future. Design is not just about making things—it’s about creating systems, spaces, and stories that reflect our identity, values, and culture.
At ODD, dialogue is the design tool. Visitors can expect to encounter key activations, exhibitions, and satellite events, that prompt open-ended conversations, pique curiosity and spark ideas on reimagining what a nation can look like, together.
Key activations include:
ODD Pavilion @ *SCAPE Playscape
More than a gathering space, the pavilion is a platform to explore the role of design — how the built environment shapes, and is shaped by, human activity. Through a series of talks, showcases, and performances, it invites dialogue on how design influences the way we live, interact, and connect.
Conceptualised by Studio Grain in collaboration with spatial designer Nous Nous, and botanical designer This Humid House, the pavilion will serve as the home ground of ODD.
Urban Furniture @ Somerset Youth Park
Visitors are invited to pause, reflect, and engage in more intimate, introspective activities within the public space, through a series of thoughtfully designed urban furniture. The installation, a collaboration with Studio Juju, forms part of a broader effort to reimagine the area as a more inclusive, creative and people-centric environment. It also supports communal activities – complementing an outdoor film screening that encourages people to experience design in a relaxed, open-air setting.
Design In Situ @ Orchard
This programme brings together designers and brands to co-create immersive and engaging in-store activations. Visitors can step into retail floors that are transformed into experiential spaces, showcasing the potential of design-led collaborations in driving creativity, sustainability, and business innovation.
