ABOUT

Community by Design presents a vibrant series celebrating community design, curated by the newly founded collective communityze. Anchored by a ‘pot-luck furniture’ hack kopitiam exhibition co-created by the collective’s members, the event is a showcase of creativity. Join communityze for free workshops, tours to community curated spaces or simply lounge at our ‘hack kopitiam’, to foster new connections. Explore curated site tours and join the participatory workshop to co-create future projects through the UnConference and installations with artists, designers, and the public. Together, community design is celebrated as a tool for social impact and communityze invites everyone to reimagine nation-building from the ground up.

The programme aligns with the DESIGN IMPACT pillar by showcasing innovative, community-led approaches in placemaking that address inclusivity, participation, and resilience. It empowers diverse voices to co-create places, demonstrating how design can build a more equitable and connected society.

The program responds to the topic of Care by centering empathy, inclusion, and collaboration in design. It nurtures relationships between people and place, values lived experiences and empowers communities to shape places that support well-being and mutual respect.
